Do marketers deceive consumers?

So I am watching TV about British food and we (I participate remotely) are discussing packaging...  'Outdoor bred pork' it says on the packaging. OK that means the pigs are living outdoors in grassy splender. Er no, it means they were born outside and then kept in a barn all their lives.

What you need is 'Outdoor reared pork' then with a bit of luck the poor porcine may have seen a smigin of daylight before slaughter time.. same goes for 'British smoked bacon' yep it is Danish OK... just smoked in Britain.

You would have thought by now the food marketing industry may have stopped pulling the wool (or is that nylon) over our eyes.

Any way it will be interesting to see what the new online marketing laws do for dodgy marketing practice. The Code of Advertisng Practice rules now apply to the online realm. I cannot imagine anything misleading happens online can you? I mean would any company pay children to talk about their sweets on Facebook??
